Oklahoma Nurses Association

The Oklahoma Nurses Association (ONA) was established as a professional organization for all the state’s registered nurses in 1908, just one year after obtaining statehood. This American Nurses Association (ANA) constituent member association works to promote the nursing profession in Oklahoma as well as nationwide.

ONA states its mission as follows:

“As a professional organization, the Oklahoma Nurses Association is a community of nurses from all specialties and practice settings that empowers nurses to improve health care.”

Being a member of ONA means you have a voice in the legislative process. The organization advocates on behalf of nursing and patients in Oklahoma through their lobbyist, their political action committee, and their grass roots network.

ONA Membership Benefits

ONA offers both a state-only membership and full membership option. Obviously, state-only members are eligible for ONA benefits only. But full members are eligible for both ONA and ANA member benefits.

Some of the ONA benefits include large discounts on books and other, discounts at area fitness centers, as well as discounted insurance and financial services.

The ANA benefits available to full members are too numerous to list here. They include discounts on everything from car rentals to health insurance to hotels to computers and beyond. They get huge discounts on ANCC certification exams and various continuing education events at the national and local level. They get access to all sorts of useful resources like career centers and the ANA’s social network, ANA Nurse Space.
