School of Nursing
Georgia Sourthern University’s School of Nursing offers both a post-BSN and post-MSN pathway to a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. Their graduate programs in nursing have been ranked highly by US News & World Report.
The BSN to DNP pathway requires applicants to have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (or equivalent) from an accredited institution. As part of the program, post-BSN students have to complete all courses required for an MSN before taking any of their DNP course. By taking the MSN courses, the student will be prepared as either a Family Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist. Those entering the program are required to have a 3.0 or higher GPA on a 4.0 scale for their undergraduate course work.
The MSN to DNP pathway requires applicants to have a Master of Science in Nursing degree (or equivalent) from a college accredited by the appropriate accrediting association. Prospective students must have a minimum graduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
The program requires satisfactory scores on the GRE or MAT. It’s offered online as it was designed for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses who work full-time. It does, however, require that students attend 3-4 day workshops once per year.
