Case Western Reserve University
Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing

Case Western Reserve University’s Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing was the first school in the nation to offer a clinical practice-oriented doctorate, the Doctor of Nursing (ND) degree, over 30 years ago (starting in 1979). They now offer the successor to the ND degree: a post-Master’s Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program.

The DNP program requires 34 credit hours for completion. It is offered both on a part-time or full-time enrollment basis, but takes at least two years to complete. DNP students will select one of two leadership focus course sequences: practice leadership or educational leadership.

Courses are offered in an executive format. The format utilizes intensive on campus classes during January, May and August or off-site at other partnering institutions. Courses are also available online.
