DNP Programs in Nevada (NV)

There are several schools in Nevada which offer Doctor of Nursing Practice degrees. The colleges and universities below offer DNP degree programs to nurses in the Silver State seeking to advance their careers in clinical nursing or nursing leadership.

Touro University Nevada
College of Health and Human Services

Touro University Nevada’s College of Health and Human Services offers the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree to prepare nurses for the highest level of leadership in specializes nursing practice. The program offered at Touro is a post-Master’s pathway to DNP.

Applicants are required to possess either:

  • a Master of Science in Nursing from a nationally or regionally accredited program or
  • a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with a Master’s degree in a related field.

Prospectives students are required to have received a B or better grade in the following graduate courses:

  • Nursing Research
  • Nursing Theory
  • Statistics

They must also have a 3.0 cumulative graduate GPA, and should be licenses as an RN with at least one year of experience as an RN.

University of Nevada, Las Vegas

The DNP degree program at University of Nevada, Las Vegas’ School of Nursing is offered in collaboration with University of Nevada, Reno. The program and requirements are the same as those listed above for UNR.

University of Nevada, Reno
Orvis School of Nursing

University of Nevada, Reno’s Ovis School of Nursing offers the Doctor in Nursing Practice degree in collaboration with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas’ School of Nursing. The program prepares graduates for advanced clinical practic and leadership roles by offering two tracks: one for advanced practice nursing and one for nurse executives/administrators.

The UNR/UNLV DNP program is a post-Master’s program. It takes cohorts of about 15 students each year. It is offered online with 2-3 day on campus meetings annually.

Applicants must have an MSN from a CCNE or NLNAC accredited institution. Their graduate GPA must be 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale. All applicants must have an unencumbered RN license. Those entering the APRN track must also a national certification in at least one advance practice such as NP, CRNA, Nurse Midwifery, or Clinical Specialist. Those entering the the nurse exectutive/administrator track must hold certification or be eligible for certification in an area of leadership in which they practice.
