New Jersey State Nurses Association

The New Jersey State Nurses Association (NJSNA) is a constituent member of the American Nurses Association (ANA). As such, it is the largest association in New Jersey representing Registered Nurses.

They state as their mission:

“Promote the profession of nursing; advance the practice of nursing and advocate for nurses.”

Governance of NJSNA

The State of New Jersey is divided into 6 regions based on counties:

  • Region 1: Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Warren
  • Region 2: Bergen, Hudson
  • Region 3: Essex, Union
  • Region 4: Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Somerset, Levittown, PA
  • Region 5: Burlington, Camden, Cumberland, Gloucester, Salem
  • Region 6: Atlantic, Cape May, Monmouth, Ocean

The organization is run by a Board of Directors . The Board meets every two months to discuss association business.

Benefits of NJSNA Membership

The New Jersey State Nurses Association offers a variety of membership options to RNs. The two main membership options are:

  • Dual Membership: NJSNA and ANA membership
  • In State Only Membership: NJSNA only

But they also offer reduced rates on dual memberships to RNs who are unemployed, full-time students, new graduates, over 62 years of age, or disabled.

Membership in NJSNA affords an RN many benefits including discounted rates from various NJ and national merchants on auto insurance, tax preparation, financial planning, and cell phone service to name a few. Members receive free the New Jersey Nurse publication and member newsletters and alerts. They have access to NJSNA’s Career Center to help find new jobs. Members also get discounts on continuing education and conventions.
