Iowa Nurses Association

The state of Iowa’s constituent member to the American Nurses Association (ANA) is the Iowa Nurses Association (INA). The organization was established in 1904 as the state’s professional organization for Registered Nurses and has a long history of advocating on behalf of nurses, nursing, and patient care.

The association state’s their mission as:

“… to connect, support and advocate for Iowa nurses and nursing practice.”

The organization has sub-divided the state into regions by county based on geography. The regions are as follows:

  • Northwest Region: Buena Vista, Calhoun, Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Hamilton, Hancock, Humboldt, Ida, Kossuth, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola, Palo Alto, Plymouth, Pocahontas, Sac, Sioux, Webster, Winnebago, Woodbury, and Wright counties
  • Northeast Region: Allamakee, Black Hawk, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Cerro Gordo, Chickasaw, Clayton, Delaware, Dubuque, Fayette, Floyd, Franklin, Grundy, Hardin, Howard, Mitchell, Winnesheik, and Worth counties
  • Southwest Region: Adair, Adams, Audubon, Carroll, Cass, Crawford, Fremont, Greene, Guthrie, Harrison, Mills, Monona, Montgomery, Page, Pottawattamie, Ringgold, Shelby, Taylor, and Union counties
  • Southeast Region: Benton, Cedar, Clinton, Davis, Des Moines, Henry, Iowa, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Jones, Keokuk, Lee, Linn, Louisa, Muscatine, Van Buren, Wapello, and Washington counties
  • Central Region: Appanoose, Boone, Clarke, Dallas, Decatur, Jasper, Lucas, Madison, Mahaska, Marion, Marshall, Monroe, Polk, Poweshiek, Story, Tama, Warren, and Wayne counties

Joining INA

INA offers two basic membership options to all RNs wishing to join the organization:

  • Full Membership: Membership in both the Iowa Nurses Association and the American Nurses Association
  • Iowa-Only Membership: Membership in only INA

As a member of INA and ANA, you will enjoy all sorts of leadership development, career development, and networking opportunities. Get free or discounted continuing education. Members can stay current on the nursing industry through the various free publications offered by INA and ANA. And members get to enjoy discounts all many products and services such as insurance, travel, scrubs, etc.
