Alabama State Nurses Association

The Alabama State Nurses Association (ASNA) is a state professional nursing membership association of the American Nurses Association (ANA). ASNA, like the ANA, is made up of Registered Nurses.

They state as their mission:

“ASNA is committed to promoting excellence in nursing.”

The organization works to set standards for the nursing profession. It is an advocate for both nurses and nursing. One way they do this is through influencing health care legislation both in Alabama and nationally.

ASNA boasts the most members and influence of any nursing organization in Alabama. They represent the entire nursing community in Alabama since their members come from every nursing position, background, and area of nursing practice.

The association was founded in 1913 and was incorporated in 1914. Its headquarters is located in historic Montgomery, AL. The organization is governed by a Board of Directors which is elected by its members.
